Convolution reverbs
Convolution is a basic algorithm that lets us simulate responses of a guitar amp, instrument resonances, and of course reverberation. It is actually the most realistic way to simulate a reverberation as it makes use of a recording of the response of a real space to a reference sound, a so-called impulse response (IR). The challenge is how to implement the convolution algorithm quickly and we have that covered of course. Several IRs are installed with our plugins and there are many IR libraries available. And, of course, you can record your own, even if that's just recording a response from another reverb plugin. Convolution lets you do lots of cool stuff.

Algorithmic reverbs
Algorithmic reverbs try to simulate a space without recording anything, just using some mathematics and physical modelling. The advantage is that you can change the parameters on the fly, even automate them, create very artificial and weird spaces and much more. They usually also take less CPU than convolution reverbs.

Delays do not simulate anything realistic, but they have an important creative role. Whether you want to make a classic reggae snare/guitar repeater or want to be more original, delays may be extremely useful on just about any audio track.
