Ben Settle, professionally known as Ed Rush, is a pioneering British drum and bass producer and DJ hailing from West London. Emerging in the early 1990s, Ed Rush played a pivotal role in shaping the darker, more aggressive subgenres of drum and bass, notably techstep and neurofunk. His early collaborations with figures like DJ Trace and Nico Sykes led to influential releases such as "Bludclot Artattack," which helped steer the rave scene towards a more intense sound.
In 1997, Ed Rush partnered with Matt Quinn, known as Optical, to form the duo Ed Rush & Optical. Together, they co-founded Virus Recordings, a label that became synonymous with cutting-edge drum and bass. Their debut album, "Wormhole" (1998), is often hailed as a seminal work in the neurofunk genre, influencing a generation of producers.
Throughout his career, Ed Rush has released music on esteemed labels like Metalheadz, No U-Turn, and Prototype, consistently pushing the boundaries of electronic music. His innovative approach and relentless drive have solidified his status as a central figure in the evolution of drum and bass.
